With the work inaugurated today, the Rail Service Center of Novara, Italy is a candidate to be one of the thirteen world centers of excellence managed by Siemens Mobility for the maintenance of rolling stock – passenger trains, high-speed trains, locomotives, subways – and the second in Europe for locomotive maintenance after the Allach factory site in Germany.
With an investment of about 6 million euros for infrastructure, services and skills, the Rail Service Center of Novara now extends over 2300 square meters indoors and about 6300 square meters outdoors for a total of 9000, has 6 tracks with 10 workstations that can be used at the same time, and boasts all the most advanced tools for preventive and corrective maintenance of locomotives. At the same time as the surface was enlarged, the range of preventive and corrective maintenance services was also expanded, which now also include the major R1 overhaul and accident repair in Italy.
Finally, predictive maintenance will be strengthened in the future thanks to Railigent X which allows rail operators, technicians and asset owners to generate valuable information on the performance of their assets. The analysis of railway asset data provided by these applications leads to better operation, optimized maintenance, greater cost efficiency and, ultimately, 100% availability of rolling stock and trackside resources.
